About the Role

We are looking to appoint a Teaching Assistant for a small specialist SEMH school based in the LE8 area. The school supports children who have struggled in mainstream settings, offering a highly structured, nurturing environment with very small class sizes and a high staff-to-student ratio.

Students access a mix of academic lessons, outdoor learning and therapeutic activities. The school's approach is calm, consistent and tailored to each child.

What You'll Be Doing

  • Providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEMH needs
  • Helping students regulate emotions and build positive behaviour routines
  • Supporting learning in the classroom, outdoors and during creative activities
  • Building strong, trusting relationships with students
  • Implementing personalised behaviour and learning plans
  • Encouraging independence, resilience and confidence

What We're Looking For

  • Experience supporting children or young people (school, youth work, coaching, residential care etc.)
  • Confident managing behaviour in a calm, supportive way
  • A patient, resilient and adaptable approach
  • Enhanced DBS or willingness to apply

Sports coaches and candidates with mentoring experience often do particularly well in this setting.

Why This Role?

  • Long-term role with a clear path to permanency
  • Supportive staff team and small, calm learning environment
  • Excellent training and development in SEMH and behaviour support
  • Trial days available so you can get a feel for the school before committing
