We are seeking a passionate Area Supervisors to join our clients team, focusing on waste management, recycling initiatives. This role is crucial in diverting waste from landfill and disposal routes into reuse. You will be instrumental in liaising with contractors, enhancing communication, and training site staff to identify and segregate suitable materials for reuse.
The role:- Supervise daily operations at the Council’s Recycling Household Waste Sites (RHWSs) and Waste Transfer Stations (WTSs).
- Travel frequently across all the Council’s waste sites to perform HR-related tasks, including supporting the onboarding process for new starters, conducting one-to-ones, and managing return-to-work processes.
- Develop and deliver training through workbooks, e-learning, toolbox talks, and other training packages or safety briefings.
- Monitor and enforce the Council’s safe systems of work and risk assessments for all site operations.
- Ensure accurate records for waste movements are maintained and appropriately filed.
- Oversee the Council’s Quality Management System for processes at the RHWSs.
- Issue, monitor, and record PPE and uniforms to staff.
- Handle low-level complaints from customers face-to-face, by telephone, and by email.
- Drive a Council 3.5-tonne box van as required.
- Good IT, interpersonal, numeracy, and literacy skills.
- Experience in customer service and line managing multiple staff.
- Experience in delivering training packages.
- Valid UK driver's licence for driving up to a 3.5-tonne vehicle, access to own vehicle, and insurance to cover business use.
This role is primarily field-based with minimal opportunities for hybrid working. It requires a hands-on approach and frequent travel to various Council waste sites.
