About the Role:Macildowie is proud to be recruiting a Senior Communications Officer for a fixed-term opportunity within a respected institution. This strategic and hands-on role involves leading the planning, execution, and evaluation of high-impact communications and engagement campaigns. You'll work across internal and external platforms while managing stakeholder relationships and a small team of Communications Officers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the creation and delivery of engagement communications strategies aligned with institutional ambitions.
  • Provide strategic oversight across all communications channels-internal, external, and digital.
  • Apply project management methodologies to communications planning and campaign execution.
  • Design and manage detailed communications plans, timelines, and evaluation metrics.
  • Develop consistent, high-quality content and ensure brand and legal compliance across all outputs.
  • Actively manage a team of Communications Officers, supporting their development and content quality.
  • Oversee operational procedures within the team to improve delivery and efficiency.
  • Manage stakeholder engagement through a structured business partnering approach.
  • Produce impactful reports and updates for senior leadership based on campaign performance and outcomes.

Working Pattern:

  • 2 days per week on-site in Leicestershire.
  • 3 days per week working remotely.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Proven experience in a senior communications role, ideally within a large or complex organisation.
  • Strong leadership and project management skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication across multiple channels.
  • Ability to think critically, challenge convention, and apply a 'critical friend' mindset to messaging.
  • Experience managing and mentoring team members.
  • Stakeholder management experience at multiple levels.
  • Ability to handle fast-paced, deadline-driven projects with creativity and professionalism.
