Quantity Surveyor & Estimator
Location: Leicester (with travel across East Midlands)
Salary: £55,000 per annum

The Role
You will wear two hats, splitting time between Estimation and Quantity Surveying responsibilities. Key duties include:
Estimating / Pre-Construction

Produce cost estimates, bills of quantities, and tender submissions for new projects

Liaise with architects, engineers, subcontractors and suppliers to obtain pricing, clarifications and alternative proposals

Evaluate tenders, risk assess cost inputs, produce value engineering proposals

Prepare cost plans, cash flows and early cost advice
Quantity Surveying / Commercial

Monitor contract cost control and project financial performance

Administer subcontractor and supplier payments, valuations, change orders and variations

Prepare interim and final accounts, cost reports and forecasts

Dispute resolution or cost claims support

Liaise with project teams to ensure costs are managed and documented

Work across a mixture of JCT and NEC contracts
You will be based in Leicester, but you should expect occasional travel across the East Midlands region in support of live projects.
Person Specification / Requirements

Qualified (or part-qualified) in Quantity Surveying (e.g. MRICS, RICS QS, CIOB or equivalent)

Minimum 5 years’ proven experience in both estimating and quantity surveying within the UK construction industry

Strong technical knowledge of measurement, cost control, and contracts (JCT and NEC)

Proficiency in estimating software, cost management systems, spreadsheets and commercial reporting

Excellent communication and negotiation skills

Ability to work independently, manage workload, meet deadlines and balance dual responsibilities

Strong attention to detail, problem solving and commercial acumen
