Site Manager - Structural & Architectural Steelwork
Location: Leighton Buzzard

LRL are working with a leading structural and architectural steelwork specialist to recruit an experienced Site Manager. This is a permanent role based in Leighton Buzzard, offering a fantastic opportunity to lead key projects while working with a well-established team in the engineering and construction sector.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage daily site operations to ensure safe, timely, high-quality, and cost-effective project delivery

  • Complete and review method statements and risk assessments for all site activities

  • Ensure compliance with company policies and Health, Safety, and Environmental legislation

  • Report and document all incidents, near-misses, and accidents, escalating major issues to the Project Manager

  • Oversee plant, equipment maintenance contracts and scheduled servicing

  • Liaise with the Project Manager and attend site meetings to resolve site-based challenges

  • Monitor labour hours, downtime, rework, and productivity using StruMIS software

  • Approve and submit accurate weekly job reports and timesheets

  • Manage on-site HR including training needs, absences, grievances, and performance discussions

  • Ensure installation quality is evidenced through documentation, photos, and final inspections

  • Operate a 3D scanner to support design accuracy and feedback to the Drawing Office

  • Generate weekly KPIs across health and safety and lifting operations

  • Provide costing information for any variations or additional works

  • Conduct site inductions, safety briefings, Toolbox Talks, and regular HSE audits

  • Survey small-scale jobs and assist with steel erection when required

  • Continuously review and improve installation processes

  • Manage and forecast plant/equipment requirements and off-hire processes

  • Allocate labour effectively to meet programme schedules

  • Collaborate with Estimators, Project Managers and Design Team to confirm installation and fixings approach

  • Perform other site-related tasks as necessary to fulfil the position



Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • SMSTS Certification

  • Valid CSCS Card (or equivalent)

  • Safety at Heights / Harness Use Certification

  • CPCS Card (Slinger/Signaller)

  • IPAF MEWP PAL+ Operator Licence

  • Competency in Abrasive Wheels

  • Alloy Towers Certificate

  • Full UK Driving Licence



Desirable Attributes:

  • Strong leadership and people management skills

  • Good commercial awareness

  • Experience using project management software (StruMIS, Fieldwire)

  • Knowledge of structural steel installation practices

  • Strong understanding of health, safety, and environmental compliance
