Accountable Recruitment are working with a respected housing provider in the North West to recruit an Assistant Tax Accountant. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with strong tax knowledge and prior experience within the housing sector to contribute to a growing, values-led organisation.

About the Role:

Reporting into the Tax Accountnt you'll play a key role in supporting tax compliance across the Group, including VAT, CIS and Corporation Tax. This is a role that blends technical tax expertise with sector-specific knowledge and requires someone who can work collaboratively with internal teams and external advisors to ensure accuracy, compliance, and efficiency across the organisation's tax function.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in preparing and submitting tax returns (VAT, CIS, Corporation Tax) across the Group

  • Support the delivery of annual Group tax computations

  • Ensure tax advice is implemented effectively within Group companies

  • Review and improve tax processes and internal controls

  • Collaborate with internal departments and build effective relationships with HMRC and external advisors

  • Keep up to date with changes in tax legislation, particularly in relation to social housing

  • Assist in maintaining financial systems to ensure compliance with regulatory standards

What We're Looking For:
  • AAT qualified or part-qualified accountant (or equivalent)

  • Strong understanding of UK tax, particularly within a social housing environment (essential)

  • Previous experience preparing tax returns and working in a complex organisation

  • High level of IT literacy, especially with accounting systems and process automation

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to explain financial matters to non-financial colleagues
