Our client, a leading subcontractor operating across the UK and Ireland, is seeking an Assistant Construction Buyer to join their busy Central London office. With a turnover of approximately 50 million and a workforce of over 250 employees, they deliver high-quality internal and external construction packages including drylining, ceilings, partitions, and faades.

The company operates from offices in London, Dublin, and Belfast, working alongside Tier 1 main contractors on major projects throughout the capital and across the South East. With a strong reputation for delivery, quality, and innovation, they are continuing to expand their commercial and procurement teams.

Assistant Construction Buyer Job Overview

  • Assisting the procurement team in sourcing and ordering materials for multiple live construction projects
  • Liaising with suppliers to negotiate prices, track deliveries, and manage lead times
  • Supporting project teams with cost comparisons, quotes and raising purchase orders
  • Maintaining and updating procurement records and databases
  • Working with site teams to ensure timely delivery of materials and resolve any delivery issues
  • Attending supplier meetings and building strong supplier relationships
  • Assisting in identifying cost-saving opportunities across projects

Assistant Construction Buyer Job Requirements

  • Previous experience in a construction procurement is needed.
  • Purchased drylining, celling, partition, joinery & fitout products previously
  • Strong organisational and communication skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel
  • COINS experience is advantageous but not essential
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
  • Eagerness to learn and develop within a commercial team
  • Based within commuting distance of Central London
