Our client, a leading company in the TV & Media sector is looking to add an experienced Assistant Management Accountant to their team.

Job purpose: Supporting the Management Accountant and Financial Accountant, this role involves managing and preparing key balance sheet reconciliations, producing and submitting accurate and timely monthly management information in line with group reporting requirements, and assisting in forecasting and budgeting. General accounting tasks may be required as needed.

The role is permanent with hybrid working (2 days in office / 3 remote) and part time would also be considered.

On offer is a salary of approx £40-45k depending on experience (for part time this could be used for 3 days for a more experienced candidate)

AssignmentDetails

P&L & Month End reporting:

  • Responsible for the reporting of monthly overheads and re-forecasting for management accounts, including detailed variance analysis and commentary against the latest forecast.
  • Preparing revenue-by-territory analysis and other revenue reporting requirements.
  • Preparing and posting monthly reviews of capped expenses and cost allocation against active titles.
  • Preparing and posting quarterly profit-sharing journals.
  • Calculating and reporting commissions due to third parties where revenues are managed by them.
  • Collaborating with the Brand Licensing team to prepare allocations for global deals.

Balance sheet management and reconciliation:

  • Work with the Technical Operations team to reconcile the storage clearing balance sheet account and allocate other costs.
  • Perform analysis and posting of quarterly digital recharge allocations.
  • Maintain the fixed assets register, including capitalising fixed assets, disposals, accumulated depreciation, and ensuring all reporting complies with company policy.
  • Maintain and reconcile prepayments and accruals balance sheet accounts.
  • Reconcile the general clearing balance sheet account.

Cash and bank

  • Perform monthly bank reconciliations and post journals as required, including revaluation of foreign currency bank accounts.
  • Provide cover for Accounts Payable, including setting up necessary internal cash payments or transfers.
  • Post monthly credit card expenses and perform analysis for annual reporting to HMRC.
  • Prepare and upload monthly Group FX rates into the general ledger. Perform monthly revaluation of currency balances using the month-end exchange rate.

Other areas:

  • Complete financial and Office for National Statistics surveys as required.
  • Prepare relevant schedules and provide assistance with interim and annual internal and external audit requirements.
  • Additional duties as required by the Management Accountant and Director of Finance.

Skills Required

  • Strong Communication and Interpersonal Skills: Ability to communicate effectively with colleagues at all levels. Comfortable engaging with teams in a collaborative, team-player manner.
  • Proactive Approach: A self-starter with a keen ability to anticipate needs and take initiative in problem-solving.
  • Basic Microsoft Excel & Word Skills: Familiarity with basic Excel functions and Word processing; advanced skills are a plus.
  • Part-Qualified or Actively Studying Towards an Accountancy Qualification: AAT, ACCA, CIMA, or similar qualification. Alternatively, candidates looking to begin their accountancy qualification journey are welcome to apply.
  • Good Organisational Skills: Ability to multi-task, prioritise work effectively, and manage deadlines efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Process Improvement Focused: Willingness to contribute to developing and refining processes to enhance efficiency and effectiveness within the team.
  • Excellent Attention to Detail: A keen eye for accuracy, particularly in financial data, reconciliations, and reporting.
  • Experience in Balance Sheet Reconciliations: An understanding of balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring all accounts are accurate and up to date.
