A well-established firm of chartered accountants and business advisors, offering a wide range of services, including auditing, accounting, tax and corporate finance. They proudly serve a diverse client base across the UK and internationally, with a strong focus on entrepreneurial owner-managed businesses. This firm have a job vacancy for an a senior or assistant manager to join their internal audit team.

The Team

The Internal Audit team is growing organically, and they are looking for a confident, driven and commercially aware individual to join as an Internal Audit Senior / Assistant Manager to look after their existing client base and to grow their offering further. No two days are the same! The client base is almost exclusively made up of public sector entities, namely in the education, charity and not for profit sectors, and their work focuses on driving improvements, efficiencies and adding value to these organisations. You will be supported and challenged from day one, working directly with a close-knit Internal Audit team and introduced to the client base to start building valued relationships.

The Role

As an Internal Audit Senior / Assistant Manager you will have ownership of the following tasks:

  • Demonstrating a reliable high / high level of competence in leading all internal audit assignments and ensuring high quality files are prepared for Manager / Director / Partner review.
  • Preparing internal audit assignments and attendance at client premises (or via remote means where necessary) 70% of the role.
  • Presenting of findings and advisory assignments from internal audit assignments, 30% of role.
  • Liaising with clients to competently plan internal audit cycles based on client risk register and the wishes of representatives of ‘Those Charged with Governance' of each client. This will include preparing terms of reference, agreeing dates for work to be carried out, agreeing client deliverables, budget and a reporting timeline for review by Manager / Director / Partner.
  • Controlling of own assignment time, and that of any junior members of staff within pre-determined budget.

You will be:

  • ACA / ACCA / IIA part or fully qualified
  • Experience planning and working on internal audits of varying sizes
  • Client facing experience.
  • Confident, articulate and able to communicate with all levels (externally and internally).
  • Good at building effective relationships with colleagues, partners and clients.
  • Good IT skills including proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Powerpoint) and Outlook.
