Interim Senior Financial Accountant

Insurance Company - London

£450 per day

London based (hybrid working). Immediate start for initial 8 week contract

Job Purpose:

  • Support the finance team during the year-end audit process by assisting with balance sheet reconciliations, schedules and other support where needed in the preparation of the financial statements under FRS 102 and 103.
  • To support the finance team with the monthly financial reporting process and ad-hoc accounting projects.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Prepare balance sheet reconciliations, schedules and notes to ensure the monthly and annual account represent a true and fair view of the business performance.
  • Perform analytical review of balance sheet items to ensure business performance is appropriately reflected in the Consolidated and subsidiaries financial statements
  • Preparation and maintenance of monthly accruals and prepayments
  • Assisting with the preparation of monthly management accounts for P&L, balance sheet and cash flows including month on month movement commentary on key movements
  • Assisting with the preparation of annual financial statements including statement notes
  • Investigation of reconciliation deficiencies, ensuring appropriate escalation and business engagement is achieved
  • Assist the Group auditors to ensure that the year-end audit process runs smoothly
  • Maintain excellent working knowledge of FRS 102 and FRS 103 accounting policies
  • Preparation of accounting memos and discussion papers relating to group accounting treatment
  • Adherence to the Group accounting policies
  • Support activities within the finance team as required
  • Ensure compliance with company and other relevant standards / regulations at all times

Job Specific Competencies:

Experience

  • 5+ years post qualified accounting experience
  • Proficiency in FRS 102 and FRS 103 accounting and reporting pronouncements
  • Experience in an accounting function or audit experience
  • Previous experience in a regulated group, financial services (desirable)
  • Previous experience using NetSuite (desirable)
  • Experience of utilising Power Query and Power BI would be an advantage.

  • A high level of oral and written communication skills, communicating effectively with senior managers, colleagues, internal and external stakeholders
  • Proficient in Microsoft applications
  • Strong mathematical, analytical, communication, and organization skills
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to drive process improvement, based upon analysis of data
  • Work effectively under pressure and think clearly and logically in challenging situations

Knowledge

  • Qualified accountant ACCA / ACA or CIMA
  • Knowledge of Power Query and Power BI would be an advantage.
