Grafton Banks Finance is recruiting a Senior Technical Reporting Accountant for a large, respected insurance business in London. The role is hybrid and requires a technically astute ACA qualified accountant with IFRS17 accounting treatments experience either within financial services or insurance. This could be either from a top 10 accounting firm or already within the sector in industry.

Working in the Group Financial Reporting and technical accounting team of a UK financial services group, with growing businesses in general insurance underwriting, insurance broking and retail lending. The role includes responsibility for producing and delivering all aspects of external reporting with a focus on IFRS 17. The role has responsibility for acting as a technical accounting expert and adviser on IFRS 17, and effectively operating as a deputy to the Group Finance Manager.

Key areas of responsibility include:

  • Lead the delivery of the month end close process both statutory and management, production of group quarterly results pack and disclosures for submission to parent company, reporting to the group audit committee and writing board papers.
  • The Senior Group Financial Reporting Accountant will have hands on responsibility in relation to the delivery of transformational change as it pertains to group accounting and reporting and aspects of financial control that support the outputs from the team.
  • Responsibilities include assuming ownership of the day to day coordination and management of the external audit not only as it pertains to the financial reporting team but to the wider finance function and more broadly the business as a whole.
  • Responsibilities extend to engagement in various group finance and wider business projects that have an accounting and financial reporting implication.
  • The Senior Group Financial Reporting Accountant will act as a mentor to the group financial reporting accountants, via exemplary behaviours from leadership, accountability and transformational as well as be prepared to operate as part of the Group Financial Reporting Manager’s leadership team.
