Title: Accountant (Commodities Trading)

Location: central London, (100% office based preffered - 1 day WFH offered after probation)

Our client, a multinational Commodities Trading group headquartered in London with operations across the globe, are currently seeking a technically adept part-qualified Accountant to join their finance team.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the monthly consolidation of four UK entities, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Prepare and submit UK VAT returns, ensuring compliance with HMRC regulations.
  • Process accruals and prepayments and maintain supporting schedules.
  • Support the preparation of annual statutory accounts and audit documentation.
  • Reconcile intercompany balances and ensure consistent treatment across entities.
  • Assist in improving and automating consolidation and reporting processes.
  • Collaborate with external auditors and provide necessary documentation.
  • Support systems and process development initiatives across the finance function.

Requirements:

  • Part-qualified accountant (ACCA/CIMA/ACA) with at least 2 years of relevant experience.
  • Solid understanding of accounting principles including consolidations, VAT, and period-end processes.
  • Strong Excel skills, including pivot tables, lookups, and formulas.
  • Experience with accounting systems Xero and ERP environments (Softmar)
  • Exposure to or interest in automation tools such as Python, Alteryx, or similar is a strong plus.
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
