My client is seeking a detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to join a dynamic team in London. This role offers the chance to work within a fast-paced environment, where you will be responsible for maintaining and updating Accounts Payable and Staff debtor books, ledgers, and records and support with monthly management accounts and year-end financial statements.

What you'll do:

As an Assistant Accountant, your primary responsibility will be to ensure the smooth running of the finance department. You will play a crucial role in maintaining and updating Accounts Payable (AP) and Staff debtor books, ledgers, and records. Your attention to detail will be key in ensuring all creditors are paid promptly and correctly. You will also provide valuable support in the production of monthly management accounts and year-end financial statements. Additionally, you will maintain the Sage accounting system Accounts Receivable (A/R), providing cover for Cash Receipts and Cash Management (C/M) ledgers when necessary. Your role will also involve preparing reconciliations of C/M bank balances with bank statements / treasury deposit confirmations and G/L bank accounts.

  • Maintain and update Accounts Payable (AP) and Staff debtor books, ledgers, and records
  • Ensure all creditors are paid promptly and correctly
  • Support the production of monthly management accounts and year-end financial statements
  • Maintain and update Sage accounting system Accounts Receivable (A/R)
  • Prepare reconciliations of Cash Management (C/M) bank balances with bank statements / treasury deposit confirmations and G/L bank accounts
  • Look for opportunities for process improvement and automation

What you bring:

The ideal candidate for this Assistant Accountant position is someone who brings a strong academic background with at least 3 A levels (B or better) or equivalent, as well as more than 5 O levels / GCSEs (B or better) including English Language and Mathematics. Being AAT part-qualified is essential for this role. You should have a good knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook. Experience of Sage Enterprise Management would be a plus. If you are ACCA/ACA/ICIMA part qualified and have 2-5 years in a relevant accounting role, it would be highly advantageous.
