My client a boutique law firm in Central London are currently seeking a Senior Accounts Assistant to join their dynamic finance team. This role involves supporting various financial operations within the company, primarily reporting to the Accounts Lead with additional reporting lines into the management accounting team and the Financial Controller. A sound understanding of double entry principles and familiarity with a document management system are essential for this position.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Support sales ledger services including processing cash receipts, performing bank reconciliations, and maintaining cash collections spreadsheets.
  • Assist in the maintenance of the firm’s deposit accounts, managing electronic inbox notifications, processing official fees charges, and preparing payment listings.
  • Provide support for purchase ledger services, including coding and processing invoices, managing payment runs, and reconciling supplier statements.
  • Support accounts control procedures, including petty cash counts, journal postings, and housekeeping of control accounts.
  • Participate in the month-end close process, including end-of-day physical close and reporting, which may involve some late working hours.
  • Provide cover in the absence of other finance team members and assist with any other accounts or administrative duties as directed.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • AAT Level 2 qualification or higher.
  • Excellent skills in Excel and capable of handling complex reconciliations.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with a keen eye for detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage a high-quality workload in a hybrid working environment.
  • Strong communication skills, confident in liaising with fee earners and all other members of the firm.
  • Flexible attitude, willing to assist others within the department and adapt to changes.
  • Eager to learn, share knowledge, and work collaboratively as part of a team.

Please note this role would be 3 days in the office one of which needs to be Tuesday. Working hours are 9am-5pm
