ACCOUNTANT/BOOKKEEPER
£30,000 - £35,000 PRO RATA (DEPENDING ON EXPERIENCE)

I have partnered with a leader in luxury travel to recruit an experienced and hands-on part-time Accountant/Bookkeeper, to support the Finance Director in day-to-day financial transactions, maintaining financial integrity, and regulatory compliance. This role is ideal for someone meticulous with bookkeeping skills, a solid knowledge of VAT legislation, and extensive experience with Xero.
Day-to-day of the role:
- Utilise Xero accounting software to manage projects and financial records, ensuring data integrity and compliance with accounting standards.
- Perform regular bank reconciliations to ensure all transactions are accurately recorded and discrepancies are promptly addressed.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable processes, including invoicing, payment processing, and tracking outstanding balances.
- Manage cash flow meticulously, considering both foreseeable events and potential risks.
- Prepare and submit VAT returns in line with HMRC and Making Tax Digital (MTD) guidelines, ensuring timely submissions and payments.
- Prepare and maintain accurate management accounts, ensuring timely reporting and analysis, including consolidating accounts for international entities.
- Assist in the preparation of statutory accounts in accordance with UK GAAP and company law.
- Ensure compliance with financial regulations and company policies, maintaining accurate and organised financial documentation.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and other financial planning activities as required. Provide cover for the Finance Director during periods of leave.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Experience working with a commission-based revenue model is essential.
- Proficiency in Xero accounting software is essential, with the ability to manage projects and consolidate accounts.
- Solid technical understanding of VAT legislation, management accounts, bank reconciliations, and accounts payable & receivable processes.
- Relevant accounting qualifications or certifications are a plus, although training opportunities are available for the right candidate.
- Excellent attention to detail, meticulous about quality and accuracy of work.
- Analytical thinking, interested in researching and enquiring/investigating in pursuit of improvements/opportunities and to increase understanding.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
