We are currently seeking an experienced Senior Business Analyst for a lucrative 6-month contract engagement with a government department’s Data Modelling and Engineering Team. This role is crucial in supporting ongoing efforts to modernise and stabilise data processes.The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary team of Data Engineers, Analytics Engineers, Business Analysts, and Delivery Managers. The team is responsible for designing and building robust data pipelines and modelling data for analytical and operational use. This role represents an exciting opportunity to contribute to a high-impact government data initiative. You’ll play a key role in shaping how legal aid data is captured and used for analysis, supporting evidence-based policymaking.Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct detailed business analysis to map existing and proposed business processes.
  • Collaborate with data engineering and data modelling teams to inform dimensional model design.
  • Work with stakeholders to understand and document user needs and requirements.
  • Facilitate workshops, conduct interviews, and lead engagement activities.
  • Develop functional and non-functional requirements documentation.
  • Apply AGILE and UML methodologies to model user stories, epics, and use cases.
  • Provide assurance on deliverables by producing a suite of clear, consistent documentation.
Essential Skills & Experience:
  • Proven ability to analyse and understand complex business problems and processes.
  • Strong experience initiating and building upon business analysis and modelling work.
  • Expertise in engaging with stakeholders to map out organisational, process, data, and technology dimensions.
  • Skilled in facilitating workshops and conducting research through interviews, surveys, and observations.
  • Demonstrated experience identifying and refining user and business needs for data service development.
  • Background in working within data modelling contexts, including prototyping and requirement gathering.
  • Proficient in compiling and managing functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Competence in using AGILE and UML tools and techniques to articulate system requirements.
  • Meticulous approach to documentation and quality assurance.
