£41,003 per annumPermanent, Full-TimeMonday to Friday, 08:30 - 17:00 (37 hours per week)

Role Purpose

To supervise the delivery and performance of grounds maintenance, arboriculture, caretaking, and cleaning services across communal open spaces, playgrounds, and blocks. The role ensures service delivery meets contractual standards and health & safety regulations, maximising customer satisfaction and operational effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise estate service teams, ensuring daily tasks align with service standards and health & safety protocols.

  • Oversee delivery of agreed service level agreements (SLAs) and programmes of work.

  • Support recruitment, workforce scheduling, and deployment planning in collaboration with the Area Contract Manager.

  • Conduct Tool Box Talks, 1:1s, team briefings, and ongoing staff development.

  • Carry out post-inspections, monitor use and maintenance of tools, vehicles, and plant equipment.

  • Obtain and manage quotes for additional works, ensuring adherence to budgets.

  • Maintain and manage project boards, databases, and relevant systems documentation.

  • Serve as a key contact for internal and external customer queries and complaints, aiming for early resolution.

  • Ensure all risk assessments, COSHH documents, and safety procedures are followed and documented.

  • Monitor and enforce safe storage and handling of materials, particularly hazardous substances and waste.

  • Attend forums, inspections, and performance meetings, reporting outcomes to the Area Contract Manager.

  • Support compliance with mandatory e-learning and classroom training requirements.

  • Be available to provide absence cover in other regions as required.

Required Experience & Qualifications

  • Proven supervisory experience in a commercial environment.

  • Strong track record of service delivery, meeting deadlines, and upholding high work standards.

  • Confident leader, able to coach and motivate individuals and teams.

  • Effective communicator with both internal departments and external suppliers.

  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel).

  • Sound understanding of:

    • Health & Safety legislation

    • Waste disposal regulations

    • Environmental policies

  • Competent in carrying out COSHH and risk assessments, and interpreting technical documentation (drawings, bills of quantity, etc.)

  • Knowledge of horticultural practices and plant identification.

  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across patch areas (London, Surrey, Sussex).
