Purpose of the Role

The Head Chef holds a pivotal leadership position, responsible for steering the culinary team toward excellence. This role demands a dynamic individual who can lead by example, ensure high standards, and actively contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspire, motivate, and manage the kitchen team to exceed performance targets and uphold operational excellence.
  • Guarantee strict adherence to food safety, hygiene, and health & safety regulations.
  • Consistently maintain and elevate food quality and kitchen standards across all locations.
  • Ensure complete compliance with internal policies and procedures, and provide regular, constructive feedback to the General Manager for their refinement.
  • Cultivate a team culture that is welcoming, inclusive, and conducive to professional growth.
  • Champion internal development by implementing structured training and progression plans.
  • Lead regular team briefings and training sessions to promote knowledge sharing and cohesion.
  • Ensure all kitchen staff complete onboarding training (e.g., Flow training) within established timeframes.
  • Be a proactive ambassador for the Balans brand, fully embracing and promoting our mission and values.
