Our client, a well-established and highly reputable business membership organisation based in Central London is currently looking for dynamic Business Development Manager.

The Role

The Business Development Manager is responsible for leading the growth of Family Business UK's membership base, through the design and delivery of a high-performing business development strategy. This role focuses on identifying, engaging, and converting new family business members—working alongside the Membership Manager to ensure a seamless onboarding and long-term relationship. It is a commercially focused role that combines strategic thinking, stakeholder engagement, and hands-on delivery to meet ambitious acquisition targets.

Key Responsibilities

Membership Growth & Pipeline Development

  • Lead the end-to-end sales process, from prospecting and pitching through to onboarding handover.
  • Build and manage a robust membership pipeline, using CRM tools to track leads and conversions.
  • Design and deliver tailored outreach strategies to engage high-potential family businesses.

Collaboration & Onboarding

  • Work closely with the Membership Manager to ensure new members experience a seamless and valuable induction.
  • Contribute to the design of onboarding processes and support continuous improvement in the member journey.

Stakeholder Engagement & Representation

  • Build relationships with senior decision-makers in family businesses and key referral partners.
  • Represent at industry events, roundtables, and forums to generate leads and promote brand visibility.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing and Programmes teams to align campaigns and messaging with growth goals.

Insight & Reporting

  • Monitor performance against targets and report regularly on KPIs and pipeline metrics.
  • Use CRM and engagement data to refine strategy, segment outreach, and identify areas for improvement.
  • Provide feedback from prospective members to help shape and evolve the Member Value Proposition.

Person Specification

Proven experience in business development, sales, or partnerships in a B2B or membership context.

Strong communication, influencing, and relationship management skills at senior levels.

Confident managing sales pipelines, CRM systems, and performance reporting.

Commercial acumen and the ability to align member needs with organisational value.

Experience working cross-functionally to deliver strategic goals and meet performance targets.

Proactive and solutions-focused, with the ability to spot opportunities to add value and pre-empt member issues.

Creative and commercially aware, with a collaborative approach to developing and improving member-facing processes.
