This role involves ensuring the safety, integrity, sustainability, and efficiency of various civil engineering assets, including highways, bridges, structures, tunnels, earthworks, and drainage systems, throughout their lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities:
- Providing civil engineering input in support of operations, strategy, projects, and asset management
- Ensuring safety and compliance with standards during all project phases
- Engaging in the planning, design, construction, operation, maintenance, inspection, and assessment of civil engineering systems
- Supervising civil engineering construction activities and conducting independent inspections
- Preparing CAD drawings and undertaking design and construction under supervision
- Planning and executing asset management and maintenance activities
- Assessing the condition of civil engineering assets
- Managing civil engineering projects under supervision
Job Requirements:
- Experience in civil engineering design, construction, operation, and maintenance
- Knowledge of legislation, technical standards, and industry best practices related to civil engineering
- Understanding of health, safety, and environmental considerations applicable to civil engineering
- Proficiency in inspection, site supervision, and maintenance of civil engineering assets
- Ability to prepare and supervise the creation of CAD drawings
- CSCS certification
- Ideally a member or working towards membership of the Institution of Civil Engineers or a similar internationally recognised institution
Special Accountabilities:
- Providing discipline-specific engineering and construction input for projects
- Supervising inspection and assessment of temporary and permanent civil engineering systems
- Supporting programme and project managers with technical and day-to-day management tasks
- Acting as the primary contact for engineering matters within the delivery business function
