A client within the Public Sector based in North London is currently recruiting for a Building Surveyor to join their Assets and Repairs Team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full-time, permanent position with the ideal candidate having experience of working within a local authority or housing association within a repairs and maintenance environment.The RoleKey purpose of the role is to lead a small team of surveyors and manage responsive repairs contracts, ensuring ISHA residents receive high-quality, value-for-money repairs and maintenance services. The postholder will ensure excellent customer experience, positive outcomes, and compliance with all relevant regulations and policies.Key responsibilities will include but not be limited to:
  • Managing performance and delivery of responsive repairs and planned works contracts.
  • Pre- and post-inspection of works to assess quality, value for money, and tenant satisfaction.
  • Leading on disrepair cases, resident complaints, and void property management.
  • Approving payments, resolving contractor disputes, and ensuring procurement compliance.
  • Supporting and developing team members, overseeing section 20 notifications and resident consultations.
The CandidateTo be considered for this role you will require:
  • Chartered Surveyor status (RICS or CIOB) or equivalent professional qualification.
  • Substantial experience in building defect diagnosis, project management, and contractor supervision.
  • A strong working knowledge of building construction, maintenance techniques, and contract law.
The below skills would be beneficial for the role:
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills.
  • Experience working in the housing sector, particularly with repairs and voids.
  • Strong IT and organisational skills, including use of asset management systems.
