We are seeking a Fire Safety Manager to provide expert advice and assistance in managing fire safety responsibilities at the Barbican Centre. This role involves implementing and operating an effective fire safety management system and ensuring compliance with all statutory requirements.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities:- Provide competent fire safety advice aligned with legal requirements and corporate policies.
- Advise on technical requirements and procedures to meet statutory obligations, including those under the Building Safety Act.
- Develop and maintain fire safety standards, policies, and risk assessments.
- Monitor legislative changes and industry guidance, advising on their application to the Barbican's activities.
- Support and advise managers on fire safety risk assessments and control measures.
- Ensure completion and review of fire risk assessments in line with statutory guidance.
- Lead audits, compliance monitoring, and incident investigations related to fire safety.
- Participate in health and safety meetings, providing reports and recommendations.
- Lead or participate in fire safety projects, ensuring fire safety considerations in design and construction.
- Promote fire safety through communication and training initiatives.
- Diploma in Fire Safety (level 4 minimum) is essential.
- NEBOSH Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety is desirable.
- Registered fire risk assessor status is desirable.
- Membership in the Institution of Fire Engineers (IFE) is desirable)
- Significant experience in fire safety management within large, event-based organisations.
- Strong knowledge of current fire safety legislation and management systems.
- Excellent communication skills, capable of handling complex information.
- Proven ability to manage projects and workloads effectively.
