Senior Building Surveyor required for a Consultancy based in London
50,000 to 65,000 per year (salary negotiable depending on experience)

Job purpose
Following becoming a Chartered Member of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), you will deliver numerous projects with minimal supervision under the direction of the Project Lead, with projects being of varying scale and complexity

Requirements
  • Building Surveying degree or similar
  • Professionally qualified and chartered with RIBA, CIAT, RICS, APS or similar
  • Proven experience working in a council or housing association or university or school or NHS Trust
  • Routine use of Newforma Project Center for managing email, creating, issuing and preserving record documents and sharing files
  • Proven ability to plan, organise manage and effectively lead projects and project teams

Responsibilities

  1. Analyse client requirements as appropriate. To provide clear and concise technical advice to clients in accordance with current legislation and with regard to relevance to the client, the project and any framework parameters.
  2. Prepare specifications and contract documents to enable projects to be tendered providing advice on appropriate construction contracts.
  3. Prepare any necessary building regulation or planning applications and monitor and deal with as necessary through discussions with the necessary authorities.
  4. Supervise works on site ensuring that acceptable quality standards of workmanship and performance are achieved and authorise payments to contractors accordingly.
  5. Ensure expenditure is controlled and that schemes are completed within budget and on time.
