Our client, a well-established and highly reputable business membership organisation based in Central London is currently looking for a Communications Manager

If you are a Communications Manager and excellent writer with excellent media relations and digital communications experience working for a similar membership body, trade association, professional body, not for profit, charity, corporate or B2B we would love to hear from you.

The Communications Manager will play a critical role in building and protecting our reputation with key audiences, including the media, Members, and external stakeholders (including government) as the voice of businesses.

Job purpose

To create and implement an integrated communications plan across all key audiences to promote awareness and understanding of the value of the work of us as an organisation.

Identify and prioritise audiences and the key messages and media for reaching these audiences to enable the association to deliver its objectives.

To develop and deliver effective communications and campaign strategies to raise the associations profile, influence and visibility.

Proactively develop and deliver integrated communications and campaign strategies to promote, protect and campaign on members’ interests. 

Collaboratively develop and deliver integrated communications to promote the work of all teams on behalf of members.

Build and maintain the press and media profile of the association as a source of expertise about the restructuring, turnaround and insolvency profession.

Main duties and responsibilities

Develop and deliver proactive, and reactive, communications reflecting the associations mission, purpose and values, including regular reporting, monitoring and evaluation.

Provide strategic counsel on communications and reputational issues to the associations council, regional committees and staff.

Manage effective external communications outputs, including media relations and digital communications.

Collaborate across all teams to effectively to drive and manage the communication of our work to members and key stakeholders.

Collaborate effectively with other Teams to promote the value of the profession to a wide audience.

Build the press and media profile of the association.

Build and maintain contact with lead editors and journalists across the trade and national media.

Monitor the media for stories and trends requiring response or offering potential as a platform for development of our communications initiatives. 

Work with members to proactively source stories which bring to life the work of the profession and the value it delivers for individuals and society as a whole. 

Oversee and manage the range of print and digital publications produced by us which may include researching, compiling, writing and proofing publications.

Lead on media activity to support lobbying and campaigns work, to include monitoring and researching key issues, drafting press releases, supporting government submissions and briefings.

Work collaboratively with the Marketing Team to contribute to the creation of promotional copy and materials.

Schedule and chair meetings related to all communications.

Report and present strategy, plans, evaluations and feedback to various stakeholders, including the council and senior leadership team.

Manage and allocate budgetary resources assigned to our Communications and campaigns Team to maximise impact and efficiency.

Work with and support our network of regional chairs and committees to promote the profession and members in all regions of the UK. 

Work with our spokespeople, typically members in elected positions (eg: President), to ensure they are appropriately trained and briefed to represent the association in all media. 

Oversee the professional growth and development of the Communications Officer.
