Contracts Manager - Boutique Construction Management
Central London
Contracts Managers are the goalkeepers of construction. Make ten great saves, no one notices. Miss one and suddenly everyone's pointing fingers.
This is a small, boutique construction management business. They're delivering prime 500k-3m projects for wealthy London clients. They've built a reputation for being decent to deal with - nice people, nice work, nice clients. Now they need a Contracts Manager who can keep the commercial wheels spinning without drowning everyone in legalese.
Your daily battles:
Negotiating contracts so watertight you could sail them down the Thames.
Procurement - i.e., persuading suppliers that lead time doesn't mean we'll see you in a month.
Keeping cost reports spotless, even when the spec changes every other week.
Spotting risk early enough to avoid that 9pm we've got a problem phone call.
What you'll need:
Contracts / commercial experience in construction (prime resi ideally).
The ability to negotiate firmly but fairly - think velvet glove, iron fist.
Detail-driven, organised, and not allergic to Excel.
Professional qualifications are a plus, but a track record of keeping projects on budget packs more punch.
What you'll get:
A genuinely nice, tight-knit team - no egos, no politics.
A seat at the table shaping how things are done (not just following the way we've always done it).
Prime, high-profile projects where detail actually matters.
The chance to grow with a company that's scaling quickly, without losing its personable feel.
I know this ad's had a bit of fun, but I'm a serious recruiter, working with a serious contractor, on a seriously good opportunity.
