About us

Avencia consulting is partnered with a leading insurer who are looking to hire a Credit Controller on a 12-month fixed-term contract basis in their London office.

The role

  1. To carry out all aspects of insurance credit control for the UK and Ireland branch
  2. Ensure that the credit control process operates efficiently and effectively, with key deliverables being met.
  3. Provide a 1st class service to all internal stakeholders to ensure all cash allocation, debtor chasing, payments and any credit control activities are completed in a timely manner in accordance with the internal procedures.

Key accountabilities

  • To proactively participate in topics or other initiatives designed to improve the effectiveness or efficiency of the credit control department.
  • Responsible for the identification and accurate booking and allocation of premiums and associated insurance
  • To issue accurate and timely statements of account to all third parties, as required in order to facilitate prompt settlement of balances.
  • Chasing of Insurance debtors by email and telephone.
  • Allocation of incoming cash.
  • Managing insurance related payments and ensuring they are paid to the correct bank accounts.
  • Preparation of outgoing payments.
  • Take ownership of more complex reconciliation problems & guide others so that they are resolved to meet credit control and appropriate service standards.
  • Ensure NOC process administered in line with procedure to assist with collection of ageing debtors.
  • Ensure all payments requests are actioned within the agreed
  • Effective and efficient control and response to the daily correspondence receive from internal and external stakeholders for accounts assigned to ensure responses provide within department agreed
  • Administration of team shared mailboxes to ensure all correspondence addressed within agreed department.
  • Build working relationships with internal and external stakeholders to maximise efficiency of the department.

Skills & experience

  • Previous credit control experience within an Insurance Accounting environment experience, particularly in the London Market
  • Have proven IT skills, with particular attention to the use of Excel.
  • Proven ability to resolve Insurance Accounting queries and issues.
  • Ability to extract Finance information from a slip and understand how this should be booked within our core system.
  • The ability to analyse matters on the basis of limited information followed by sound judgement and decision making is critical.
  • Highly motivated individual who is happy to work in a small team.
  • Minimum of good A-Level standard education with relevant post - education experience.
  • Industry recognised qualifications (e.g. AAT ACII) or working towards preferred but not essential.
