ASD Teaching Assistant | Long Term | Complex Needs

We are seeking a devoted ASD Teaching Assistant to join one of our most flourishing schools in Newham, East London. As an ASD Teaching Assistant, you will support children diagnosed with ASD and ADHD within a Secondary School setting.

The school boasts a strong support team committed to excellence in education, fostering a dedicated network of staff eager to make a meaningful impact on young pupils' futures.

Ideal Candidate Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the development of appropriate resources, schemes of work, and teaching strategies.
  • Bring extensive experience with SLD/ASD/PMLD and complex needs.
  • Supervise and support students in group settings.
  • Support behaviour management strategies.
  • Undertake structured learning activities/teaching programmes and adapt as needed to ensure learning goals are met.
  • Establish positive relationships with children and act as a role model.
  • Promote inclusion, support diversity, and ensure equal access to learning opportunities for all pupils.

Requirements:

  • Basic knowledge of SEND and learning barriers.
  • Understanding of strategies for working with young people with challenging behaviours.
  • Safeguarding experience.
  • Proven experience supporting the learning of students in an educational or training environment.
