Remedy is recruiting for a dedicated Teaching Assistant with Makaton training or experience. This role involves working 1:1 with a pupil with speech, language, and communication needs. The pupil communicates using bespoke resources and Makaton signs, making Makaton experience an essential requirement for this role.
Makaton Teaching Assistant | Responsibilities
- Have excellent communication skills.
- Build strong relationships with students and staff.
- Provide encouragement and support to aid development.
- Maintain a positive and caring attitude towards children's learning and progress.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of the student at all times.
Makaton Teaching Assistant | Job Specification
- Provide one-to-one learning support for a pupil with communication needs.
- Assist with the development of individual education and behaviour plans, setting achievable goals for the pupil.
- Build trusting relationships with the pupil and adapt your support to meet their individual needs.
- Work collaboratively with the SENDCo and Class Teacher to ensure effective provision.
- Encourage the pupil to engage in class activities and develop their communication skills.
Makaton Teaching Assistant | Person Specification
- A good understanding of the EYFS or primary curriculum.
- Makaton training and/or relevant experience supporting children with communication needs.
- Experience working with children who have speech and language difficulties.
- Outgoing, friendly, and engaging personality.
- Willing to support children with varying abilities and needs.
- A positive and enthusiastic attitude towards learning and development.
