SEND Teaching Assistant - 1:1 Support (Year 2 - Challenging Behaviour)

SANZA Teaching Agency is working with a vibrant and inclusive primary school in Haringey who are seeking an experienced and committed SEND Teaching Assistant to work 1:1 with a pupil in Year 2 displaying challenging behaviour. This is a full-time position, starting in September 2025, and requires someone who can provide calm, structured, and emotionally regulated support.
This is a fantastic opportunity for a resilient and empathetic SEND Teaching Assistant who has a passion for behaviour support and creating positive learning environments for children with additional needs.
Role Highlights:
- SEND Teaching Assistant working 1:1 with a pupil in Year 2 with social, emotional and behavioural needs
- Support the pupil with emotional regulation, self-esteem, and behaviour management strategies
- Help the child access learning and maintain engagement through tailored activities
- Collaborate closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and external professionals
- Deliver consistent routines, calm transitions, and offer positive reinforcement
- Build strong, trusting relationships to support the child's emotional development
What We're Looking For:
- Previous experience as a SEND Teaching Assistant, ideally with behaviour support or SEMH experience
- Confidence working with challenging behaviour in a school or alternative provision setting
- Ability to remain calm under pressure, and respond with patience and empathy
- Understanding of emotional regulation strategies such as Zones of Regulation, sensory breaks, or trauma-informed practice
- Committed to safeguarding and inclusive education
- Passionate about helping children thrive in a structured, supportive environment
