SEND Teaching Assistant - 1:1 Support (Year 2 - Challenging Behaviour)

SANZA Teaching Agency is working with a vibrant and inclusive primary school in Haringey who are seeking an experienced and committed SEND Teaching Assistant to work 1:1 with a pupil in Year 2 displaying challenging behaviour. This is a full-time position, starting in September 2025, and requires someone who can provide calm, structured, and emotionally regulated support.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a resilient and empathetic SEND Teaching Assistant who has a passion for behaviour support and creating positive learning environments for children with additional needs.

Role Highlights:

  • SEND Teaching Assistant working 1:1 with a pupil in Year 2 with social, emotional and behavioural needs
  • Support the pupil with emotional regulation, self-esteem, and behaviour management strategies
  • Help the child access learning and maintain engagement through tailored activities
  • Collaborate closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and external professionals
  • Deliver consistent routines, calm transitions, and offer positive reinforcement
  • Build strong, trusting relationships to support the child's emotional development

What We're Looking For:

  • Previous experience as a SEND Teaching Assistant, ideally with behaviour support or SEMH experience
  • Confidence working with challenging behaviour in a school or alternative provision setting
  • Ability to remain calm under pressure, and respond with patience and empathy
  • Understanding of emotional regulation strategies such as Zones of Regulation, sensory breaks, or trauma-informed practice
  • Committed to safeguarding and inclusive education
  • Passionate about helping children thrive in a structured, supportive environment
