SEN Teaching Assistant - 1:1 Support - Year 1 - Primary School - Haringey - ASAP Start

Are you an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant looking for a rewarding long-term role supporting a child with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)? A warm and inclusive primary school in the heart of Haringey is seeking a resilient and confident SEN Teaching Assistant to support a Year 1 boy who requires 1:1 support due to ASD and behavioural challenges. This SEN Teaching Assistant role is to start immediately and will continue for the rest of the academic year, with strong potential for extension.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with the classroom teacher and SENCO to implement individual strategies that help the child remain engaged, focused, and calm throughout the school day. The young boy you'll be supporting can be disruptive at times, so this SEN Teaching Assistant role demands someone who has previous experience with behaviour management, a proactive approach, and the ability to think on their feet.

You must be confident in de-escalation techniques and able to build a strong, trusting relationship that helps regulate behaviour in a positive, consistent way.

SEN Teaching Assistant - Key Requirements:

  • Proven experience working with children with ASD and behavioural needs.

  • Ability to remain calm under pressure and manage challenging behaviour.

  • A nurturing and empathetic approach, with strong interpersonal skills.

  • Availability to work full-time, Monday to Friday, during term time.

  • A valid Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply via Reeson Education.
