About the Role:Veritas Education is currently recruiting for a passionate and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant on behalf of a wonderful primary school in Greenwich. This is a fantastic opportunity to support children with Special Educational Needs (SEN), including Autism, ADHD, and other learning disabilities, in their daily learning and development. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers and the SENCO to provide tailored support to children, ensuring they are included, engaged, and able to achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support for students with a range of SEN needs, including Autism, ADHD, and speech and language difficulties.
  • Support the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs), ensuring they are tailored to meet the specific needs of each student.
  • Assist with classroom management, promoting positive behaviour through behaviour management strategies and techniques.
  • Support students with communication challenges using visual aids, sign language, and augmentative communication systems as required.
  • Monitor and record student progress, identifying any areas of concern and working collaboratively with the SENCO and teaching team to address these.
  • Facilitate speech and language interventions, working closely with speech therapists to support students' communication and social skills development.
  • Provide assistance during class activities and on school trips, ensuring the safety and well-being of all students.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children with SEN, particularly Autism, ADHD, or speech and language difficulties.
  • A passion for supporting children with additional needs and ensuring they achieve their potential.
  • Knowledge of behaviour management techniques and strategies for supporting children with challenging behaviours.
  • Strong communication skills, both with children and as part of a team.
  • Ability to adapt learning strategies and resources to meet individual student needs.
  • A relevant qualification in education or SEN (e.g., Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent) is desirable but not essential.
  • An understanding of safeguarding and child protection policies.
  • Patience, empathy, and a proactive approach to supporting children with special educational needs.
