Job Title: Principal Electrical & Instrument Engineer – Water Sector
Location: London (Hybrid – 1–2 days per week office-based)

We are recruiting for a Principal Engineer to join a well-established engineering design consultancy with a strong pipeline of long-term work in the water, hydrogen, and nuclear sectors.

This is a dynamic role for a motivated engineer who enjoys working across feasibility, FEED, detailed design, and construction support phases. You’ll contribute to a portfolio of water and wastewater projects supporting utilities across the UK.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee electrical and control deliverables across all design phases

  • Coordinate with clients, contractors, and stakeholders

  • Develop Electrical Load Schedules and specify telemetry, MCCs, and instrumentation

  • Prepare subcontract installation scopes and conduct technical bid evaluations

  • Support site surveys, construction liaison, and commissioning activities

  • Ensure compliance with national and international standards, including WIMES

  • Promote safety, sustainability, and Net Zero initiatives across project delivery

Requirements:

  • Degree in Electrical, Electronic, or Control Engineering

  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working towards Chartership

  • Strong background in EICA design within the water or wastewater sector

  • Experience approving documentation for construction

  • Knowledge of UK regulations including ATEX, CE/UKCA, EMC, and PED

  • Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills

  • Proactive, hands-on approach to problem solving and project delivery
