We are seeking a diligent and detail-oriented Lifetime Mortgage Underwriter for a vital role reporting into the Head of Underwriting, based in London. The successful candidate will be responsible for underwriting lifetime mortgage applications and providing exceptional service to our customers.

Description
- Reviewing Lifetime Mortgage applications against Lending Policy to ensure robust underwriting decisions are made.
- Managing a portfolio of cases to completion. Each case to be Underwritten accurately by assessing loan documentation, including valuation reports and if required, Credit reports, and requesting additional information from brokers and customers where required, highlighting any concerns that you may have.
- If case is outside mandate, present your recommendation to a Senior Underwriter for approval. You will communicate lending decisions on a timely basis to internal stakeholders, presenting your rationale and responding to any challenges.
- Working closely with Case Managers to gather all information from third parties.
- Speak extensively to Brokers to allow cases to progress efficiently
- Complying with all regulatory requirements by ensuring all mandatory training requirements are met, a strong understanding of regulatory compliance and principles of credit risk demonstrated.
- Complying with all conduct rules which are from time to time issued by appropriate Regulatory bodies (e.g., FCA, PRA etc)
- Help, as required, the Completion team to ensure that any Solicitors questions are answered quickly and effectively
Profile
A successful Lifetime Mortgage Underwriter should have:
- Experience underwriting lifetime mortgage applications, specifically within a specialist lender or experience in the packaging or preparation of cases for Underwriting.
- Strong attention to detail and consistent accuracy levels.
- Strong communicator with an ability to speak with both Brokers and Customers.
- A strong understanding of the UK housing market and FCA regulation.
- Ability to analyse information to enable prompt decision making and problem solving
