We’re seeking a skilled Finance & Payroll Manager to lead our financial operations and payroll functions across Heathrow and Luton airports. This is a strategic role, working closely with the CFO and senior leadership to drive financial performance, ensure compliance, and support operational excellence.
Key ResponsibilitiesFinance Leadership
- Shape and execute financial strategies aligned with long-term business goals.
- Partner with the CFO and executive team on strategic planning, risk management, and scenario analysis.
- Prepare and present board-level financial reports; contribute to leadership meetings.
- Drive cost efficiency and margin improvement across the business.
- Oversee daily financial operations including AP/AR, bank reconciliations, and ledger management.
- Deliver accurate monthly management accounts and financial reports.
- Lead budgeting and forecasting processes in collaboration with department heads.
- Ensure full compliance with statutory obligations (VAT, Corporation Tax, Companies House).
- Monitor financial risks and implement effective controls.
- Support commercial decisions with financial modelling and pricing analysis.
Payroll Management
- Manage end-to-end payroll for all employees, ensuring accuracy and HMRC compliance.
- Administer pension schemes and ensure auto-enrolment compliance.
- Process variable pay elements (e.g., overtime, allowances, shift premiums).
- Submit all statutory payroll returns including RTI, P60s, and P11Ds.
- Resolve payroll-related queries professionally and promptly.
- Maintain GDPR-compliant payroll records and data handling.
Team Leadership & Stakeholder Engagement
- Lead and develop a high-performing finance and payroll team, setting KPIs and conducting performance reviews.
- Act as the primary contact for external stakeholders (auditors, banks, insurers, legal advisors).
- Represent finance in cross-functional projects (e.g., system migrations, TUPE transfers, restructures).
- Fully qualified accountant (AAT, ACCA, CIMA, ACA or equivalent).
- Minimum 5 years’ senior-level experience in finance leadership.
- Proven track record in high-volume, operational environments (aviation, logistics, transport preferred).
- Strong commercial acumen and strategic thinking.
