SANZA Teaching Agency are recruiting on behalf of an excellent independent school in Barking & Dagenham. The school is an SEMH provision that provides therapeutic, personalised education students unable to attend mainstream school due to Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

The school caters to both primary and secondary aged students. They are seeking two behaviour mentors (one for primary, one for secondary).

About the School:

  • Aim to empower students and increase confidence and wellbeing through communication, collaboration and trust

About you:

  • Must have previous experience as a behaviour mentor/teaching assistant in a SEMH/PRU setting
  • Must be able to teach strategies for self-control, resilience, and conflict resolution
  • Act as a role model
  • Follow safeguarding and child protection procedure
  • Must be able to work 1:1 with pupils who display challenging behaviour
  • Must be able to help students understand emotions, triggers, and consequences of actions
  • Must be able to facilitate students to build confidence and self-esteem
  • Be a trusted, empathetic mentor with the ability to assert firm boundaries and routine
