About the Role:

Are you ready to play a crucial role in maintaining London's operational resilience? As a Data and Risk Officer at the Greater London Authority (GLA), you will be the key point of contact during your shift, providing vital early warnings, incident monitoring, and maintaining situational awareness on real-time events. Your analytical skills will be put to the test as you produce accurate, timely, and analytically sound reports in response to unfolding situations, ensuring decision-makers have the information they need to act quickly and effectively.

In this dynamic role, you will maintain the flow of information between the GLA, government departments, and other key stakeholders, ensuring clarity and consistency in the response to incidents. Building and cultivating relationships with both internal and external stakeholders will be essential, as you deliver intelligence, briefings, and reports consistently and accurately. Your ability to present complex information clearly and concisely to senior staff and other stakeholders will be crucial in shaping the GLA's response to various events across the city.

Location: Southwark (SE1 8NJ) – office opposite Southwark station – Full time office based

Shift Pattern: 24/7 rotational shift pattern (Early: 0700-1700, Late: 1130-2130, Night: 2115-0715, 4 days on, 4 days off) total hours per week will equate to an average of 37 hours.

Contract Duration: 6 months (covering paternity absence)

Pay rate: £28.42 per hour via PAYE or £37 per hour via Umbrella

Person Specification:

  • Proven experience in open-source intelligence and collection methodologies, with the ability to transform this information into actionable insights.
  • Strong understanding of information management principles and data protection legislation.
  • Experience providing guidance during incidents.
  • Excellent communication skills, enabling you to present complex information clearly and concisely.
  • Proven success in diverse and demanding work settings.
  • Ability to foster collaboration across different teams and disciplines.
  • Preparedness to work on a 24/7 rotational shift pattern (covering both day and night shifts).
  • Demonstrated adaptability, attention to detail, and the ability to stay calm and effective under pressure.
