Day-to-day of the role:

  • Lead the Science department, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning are maintained.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans for the department to achieve excellent student outcomes.
  • Inspire and motivate students and staff to excel in Science.
  • Monitor and evaluate the performance of staff and students in the department.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive environment within the department.
  • Collaborate with other department heads and senior management to enhance overall school performance.
  • Engage with the latest educational research to continually improve departmental practices.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in a leadership role within an educational setting, preferably in Science.
  • Strong understanding of the current curriculum and teaching methods for Science.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills.
  • Ability to think strategically and creatively.
  • Resilient and energetic with a passion for teaching and learning.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
