Full-Time Teacher of Physics Required - Outstanding Hackney School (September 2025 Start - Key Stage 5 Essential)

Our Outstanding school in the vibrant and diverse borough of Hackney, London, seeks a dedicated and experienced Full-Time Teacher of Physics to join our thriving Science department and make a real difference to the scientific understanding and analytical skills of our students across Key Stage 3 and, crucially, Key Stage 4 and 5, commencing in September 2025.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Planning, preparing, and delivering engaging and effective Physics lessons that cater to the diverse learning needs of our students across all key stages, reflecting the technological and scientific context relevant to Hackney and London.
  • Fostering students' understanding of key physical principles, theories, and their applications, with a strong emphasis on the demands of the A-Level specification.
  • Encouraging critical thinking, problem-solving, and the development of strong practical skills through laboratory work.
  • Assessing and tracking student progress in Physics across all key stages, providing constructive feedback, and implementing effective intervention strategies, particularly for A-Level students.
  • Contributing to the development, implementation, and review of the Physics curriculum across all key stages, ensuring alignment with examination specifications and opportunities for practical investigations.
  • Utilizing and contributing to the development of high-quality Physics resources, including digital tools, simulations, and practical equipment relevant to the student population of Hackney.
  • Contributing to extracurricular activities that promote scientific exploration and engagement within the school community (e.g., science clubs, competitions).
  • Collaborating effectively with colleagues within the Science department and across the wider school to foster a rich and interdisciplinary learning environment.
  • Engaging in ongoing professional development to enhance teaching practice and keep abreast of current developments in physics and pedagogy, with a focus on A-Level teaching and practical skills development.

The Ideal Candidate Will Possess:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • A degree in Physics or a closely related field.

  • A strong and up-to-date understanding of the A-Level Physics curriculum and relevant examination specifications.
