As part of their exciting expansion journey, they are now seeking to appoint a Tax Manager on a 12-month Fixed Term Contract.

We are seeking a technically strong and commercially astute Tax Manager on a 12-month fixed-term contract and our client are very open to being creative in finding the best candidate, whether that is remote working options or part-time hours on offer, of course if you are local to the London office face to face hybrid office days are preferred!

Reporting directly to the CFO, this is a fantastic opportunity and you'll fully own Tax & Tax Strategy within this rapidly internationalising, high-growth Group.

In this role duties will include

  • Own Tax within the Group, covering Corporation Tax (including R&D, Capital Allowances & Withholding Tax), Transfer Pricing, VAT, and everything in between.
  • Act as the Group's Transfer Pricing lead, owning the design, documentation, and ongoing compliance of intercompany policies as Butternut Box expands across multiple jurisdictions.
  • Manage the activities and relationships with the Group's external Tax advisors as required, with an expectation that the current set-up will be continually reviewed, assessed and optimised.
  • Design, build, and optimise Tax-related processes to ensure compliance, scalability, and efficiency - incorporating measurable KPIs and automation where appropriate.
  • Identify opportunities to optimise the Group's effective Tax rate and reduce risk, both short and long term.
  • Communicate and execute the Group's long-term Tax strategy in line with our wider objectives.
  • Support the annual audit process, including preparation of Tax-related disclosures, documentation, and liaising with auditors as needed (FRS 102).
  • Be the go-to expert to input on wider business strategy, M&A and other expansion projects as the Tax voice in the room. Lead the tax workstream on international expansion, proactively identifying risks, managing tax registrations and obligations across Europe, and coordinating with local advisors to ensure smooth market entries.
  • Partnering with the People team, Head of Legal and wider business to advise on: global mobility, corporate residency, share options, legislative changes and much more.

The Ideal Candidate Profile

  • CTA or ACA qualified (both ideal but not essential).
  • Strong knowledge of UK Corporation Tax, with understanding of Capital Allowances, R&D, and Transfer Pricing.
  • Hands-on experience supporting business expansion into new markets is preferable, including managing new entity set-ups, navigating local tax frameworks, and coordinating with local tax advisors.
  • A moderate knowledge of indirect tax and customs implications for a B2C business.
  • Passionate about Tax, with a mindset of continuous learning to stay updated on Tax laws and industry best practices.
