Principal Education is recruiting on behalf of a well-established secondary school in the London Borough of Waltham Forest (E17) for a Head of Humanities to start in September 2025.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced teacher or current middle leader to take on a key role overseeing History, Geography, and Religious Education. The successful candidate will lead a dedicated team, drive curriculum development, and contribute to whole-school improvement strategies.

Role Details:

• Position: Head of Humanities

• Start Date: September 2025

• Location: Waltham Forest (E17), East London

• Contract: Full-time, permanent

• Salary: MPS/UPS + TLR 2b (Outer London weighting)

The Ideal Candidate Will:

• Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)

• Have a strong track record of teaching and raising attainment in Humanities subjects

• Possess experience in curriculum planning and departmental leadership

• Be passionate about developing critical thinking and cultural understanding in students

• Demonstrate strong leadership, organisational, and communication skills
