Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) Manager / Advisor - Construction - On-site Contractor Role - West London - c£60k-£65k

We’re looking for a site-based Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) Manager, with approximately 5+ years relevant Major Project experience, to join an award-winning, well-established construction company on an interesting, long-term project in West London.

The role:

This is an ongoing contractor role based on-site 5 days/week, working either 07:30-17:30 or 08:00-18:00.

Key responsibilities as the SHE Manager / Advisor will include:

  • Maintaining a safe and healthy work environment and proactively monitoring all the company’s works activities
  • Advising on safe practise and appropriate health and safety controls when planning future works
  • Liaising with the client on H&S issues or concerns
  • Supporting all new starters on site and ensuring all subcontractors have safety documentation approved prior to work commencing
  • Creating and updating all compliance documentation
  • Creating Risk Assessments and associated Method Statements (RAMS) and ensuring they are reviewed and updated
  • Investigating all incidents
  • Carrying out weekly site inspections using YellowJacket
  • Advising and recommending the closing out of existing actions / observations
  • Reporting any immediate safety issues to Ops and management teams
  • Raising observations
  • Advising sit management on legal and best practice compliance
  • Carrying out bi-weekly Supervisor Safety meeting
  • Attending bi-weekly HS&S meeting
  • Attending weekly H&S weekly site walk
  • Monitoring SHE best practice & accident / incident reports and advise on any necessary changes to works activities / methods
  • Monitoring training requirements and performance

What we’re looking for:

  • Relevant experience as a Safety, Health & Environment Manager / Advisor (c5+ years)
  • Experience gained working on Major Projects
  • Black or white CSCS card, NEBOSH Construction
  • Subcontractor experience is preferred
  • Experience of writing RAMS (not just reviewing)
  • Understanding of temporary works
  • Experience of relevant reporting software - experience of YellowJacket is highly beneficial
  • Strong IT skills
  • Confident communications skills and the ability present to colleagues and stakeholders as needed
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
