Teaching Assistant (Psychology Graduate) - Primary School, Wandsworth

Academics are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Psychology Graduate to join our friendly primary school in Wandsworth as a Teaching Assistant. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about child development, mental health, and education - and who is considering a future career in teaching, educational psychology, or child therapy.



Key Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one or small group support to pupils, particularly those with SEN or social, emotional, and behavioural needs.

  • Assist teachers in delivering engaging lessons and adapting materials to meet individual learning needs.

  • Implement behaviour management strategies and promote emotional regulation techniques.

  • Support pupils' social and emotional development, encouraging confidence, independence, and resilience.

  • Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and external professionals to monitor and assess pupil progress.



Person Specification

  • A degree in Psychology (or a related discipline).

  • A genuine interest in working with children and supporting their development.

  • Understanding of child development, behaviour, and learning theory.

  • Excellent communication, empathy, and interpersonal skills.

  • Previous experience working with children (in schools, tutoring, volunteering, or youth work) is highly desirable.
