SEN Teaching Assistant - 1:1 Autism Support - Year 4 - Primary School - Camden Borough - ASAP Start
A well-regarded primary school in the Borough of Camden is looking to appoint a committed and empathetic SEN Teaching Assistant to provide dedicated 1:1 support for a Year 4 pupil with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This is a full-time SEN Teaching Assistant position starting as soon as possible and continuing until the end of the academic year.
As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will be working closely with the class teacher and the SENCO to tailor learning and behavioural strategies that suit the child's specific needs. The child has moderate communication difficulties and benefits from a highly structured and consistent routine. Your role as a SEN Teaching Assistant will involve implementing visual timetables, using reward systems, and helping to regulate any sensory sensitivities that arise during the school day.
This SEN Teaching Assistant role is ideal for someone who has worked with primary-aged children with Autism, has strong communication skills, and can foster a supportive and safe learning environment.
SEN Teaching Assistant - Candidate Profile:
Experience supporting children with ASD in a mainstream or specialist setting.
Familiarity with PECS, visual aids, or Makaton is highly desirable.
Ability to work collaboratively with school staff, parents, and external professionals.
A proactive, positive, and compassionate attitude.
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willingness to apply through Reeson Education).
