SEN Teaching Assistant - 1:1 Year 3 Support - Primary School in Haringey - Immediate Start

Are you a compassionate and experienced SEN Teaching Assistant ready to make a difference in the life of a child with additional needs? A welcoming and inclusive primary school in the Borough of Haringey is seeking a committed SEN Teaching Assistant to support a Year 3 pupil with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). This is a long-term position, starting immediately and continuing for the rest of the academic year, with the potential to extend into September.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will be providing 1:1 support, helping the pupil access learning within the mainstream classroom as well as during targeted interventions outside the class when needed. The child requires a calm, structured, and patient approach. Your day will involve working closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and external agencies to ensure the best possible learning outcomes for the pupil.

This SEN Teaching Assistant role is ideal for someone who is resilient, empathetic, and confident in supporting behaviour and emotional regulation. Experience supporting children with ASD is essential.

SEN Teaching Assistant - Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 support for a Year 3 pupil with ASD, both in and outside the classroom.

  • Implement behaviour strategies and work closely with staff to promote consistent routines.

  • Encourage social communication, emotional development, and academic progress.

  • Work with the SENCO and class teacher to tailor support plans and interventions.

SEN Teaching Assistant - Ideal Candidate:

  • Previous experience as an SEN Teaching Assistant, particularly supporting ASD.

  • Calm, patient, and positive approach to behaviour management.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • DBS on the update service or willingness to apply via Reeson Education.
