Learning Support Assistant - SEN School | BRENT

We are excited to be partnering with a highly regardedSEN Support Schoolin BRENT, specialising in providing exceptional support to children with a range of complex needs, includingautism spectrum disorder (ASD),sensory impairments, and other severe to moderate learning difficulties. The school caters to students aged 4 to 18 years old, offering a nurturing environment for those with varying levels of special educational needs.

We are currently looking for adedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistantto join the team. The ideal candidate will have experience working with students who exhibit challenging behaviours and additional learning needs, including ADHD, autism, and other complex or physical disabilities.

Role:

As aLearning Support Assistant, you will work closely with students in both1:1andsmall groupsettings, providing academic, emotional, and social support. Your role will primarily focus on assisting students to understand their learning materials, offering encouragement, and fostering positive relationships. Some students may require personal or intimate care (e.g. toileting and changing), and you will be expected to provide this support with dignity and respect.

Responsibilities:

  • Support theclassroom teacherby providing insights on student progress and needs, and assisting with any delegated tasks.

  • Use your knowledge ofcomplex learning difficultiesto support individual students who require1:1assistance.

  • Aid students in understanding tasks, ensuring they have all necessary resources, and helping to motivate and engage them.

  • Providepersonal/intimate carefor students where needed.

  • Liaise with theSENCO/Inclusion Managerto ensure the effective delivery of SEN provisions.

Role Specifications:

  • Working hours:Monday to Friday, 8:50 am to 3:40 pm (term-time only).

  • Salary:90-95 per day, paid weekly (approximately (Apply online only) per week, PAYE).

  • Contract:Temporary to Permanent - a permanent contract will be offered after completing 12 academic weeks.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Must have or be willing to apply for an enhancedDBScheck (cost 52.20) and be registered on the update service (13 per year).

  • Previousexperience working in a schoolwithin the last two years is essential.

  • Experience supporting students withcomplex learning difficultiesand additional needs.

  • Previouscare experienceor experience providingpersonal/intimate carefor children is required.
