The role will span from traditional institutional bank monitoring instructions with a focus on short term interests, to institutional funds or corporate landlord monitoring instructions with more of a focus on longer term interests. Our client has a varied client base from which monitoring surveying and due diligence commissions are undertaken.

Our client is a leading property and construction building consultancy delivering technical professional services across the industry.

The role will be based out of the Central London office and is likely to involve the management of other team members and be responsible for the successful delivery of monitoring surveying commissions.

Description

We are looking for an experienced Chartered Monitoring Surveying - Associate level to join the specialist Monitoring Surveying & Due Diligence division of a Tier 1 Building Consultancy. This is a senior-level role, offering the opportunity to work across the full technical and commercial spectrum of monitoring surveying. You'll be responsible for delivering high-quality advice and reporting on projects of varying scale and complexity for a broad client base ranging from institutional lenders to corporate landlords.

You will lead projects independently, manage internal or external teams of mixed technical abilities, and play a key role in maintaining and developing client relationships. Based in the London office, you'll also need to travel regularly across the South-East and occasionally nationwide, depending on project needs. Flexibility and a proactive approach are essential.

Key Responsibilities

Technical Delivery

  • Prepare clear, insightful technical reports with strong visual and graphical content.
  • Chair project meetings and act as the main point of contact for clients.
  • Deliver presentations at both internal and external meetings.
  • Apply deep technical knowledge and commercial judgement to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Monitor project profitability, ensuring work is delivered efficiently and within agreed fee structures.

Team & Project Management

  • Direct and oversee the performance of internal team members and external consultants.
  • Provide mentoring, support, and input into appraisals and professional development of junior staff.
  • Assist in recruitment and support training aligned with professional qualifications.

Client Engagement & Business Development

  • Maintain strong relationships with existing clients, while identifying opportunities to grow our client base.
  • Attend industry and networking events, aligning business development activity with strategic objectives.
  • Represent the business at external events, promoting our services and values.

Strategic & Operational Involvement

  • Contribute to internal business operations, supporting Directors, Partners, and the wider Partnership.
  • Take part in Responsible Business initiatives, such as career fairs and mentoring.

Profile

In order to be considered you need to be MRICS Chartered and have a demonstrable track record of having completed various Monitoring Surveying and Technical Due Diligence commissions across UK construction projects.
