Signature Recruitment is working with our client, a London university, to recruit a temporary Library Team Leader for a full-time, campus-based role.

This is a great opportunity for someone with team leadership experience looking to transition into the education sector or expand their experience in a high-impact, operational role. In this position, you’ll be responsible for leading a team delivering front-of-house and administrative library services. From managing rosters and resolving user issues to supporting inter-library loans and working with student support teams, this role offers variety, responsibility, and lots of opportunity to grow.

Library Team Leader Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead, supervise, and support a team to deliver high-quality, user-focused library services.
  • Manage team rotas, performance, one-to-ones, and daily operations, ensuring service targets are met.
  • Liaise with internal departments including Finance, Student Services, and Security to coordinate support and resolve issues.
  • Oversee circulation procedures, inter-library loans, disability support, and space management.
  • Contribute to policy improvements, short-term project work, and service planning.
  • Handle day-to-day administrative duties, provide user support, and maintain Health & Safety standards.
Library Team Leader Key Skills:
  • Proven team leadership or supervisory experience, ideally from customer service, retail, or hospitality settings.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the confidence to manage staff and provide excellent service.
  • Comfortable handling manual tasks (e.g. lifting boxes) and adaptable to shift-based work.
  • Proficient IT skills (Excel, email, digital systems) and strong attention to detail.
