I'm working with a leading university in the South of England that's looking for an Operations Manager to support the launch and day-to-day running of a brand-new student residence opening in Summer 2025.

This role is ideal for someone experienced in residential or hospitality operations, who thrives in people-facing environments and wants to play a key part in shaping the student experience from day one. You'll lead a front-of-house team, manage third-party FM relationships, and be the go-to person for daily operations in a large-scale hall of residence with 676 student bedspaces.

?? MUST HAVE EXPERIENCE:

  • Day-to-day operational management in residential, hospitality, or facilities settings
  • Line management and rota planning for front-of-house or reception staff
  • Working with third-party providers (FM, housekeeping, or maintenance)
  • Incident response (fire safety, evacuations, maintenance issues)
  • Budget awareness and cost control in large service environments
  • Experience using property management or facilities systems
  • Experience working in or alongside higher education (desirable)

?? ESSENTIALS:

  • Excellent communication and team leadership skills
  • Strong customer service mindset
  • Confident with problem-solving, compliance, and emergency handling
  • Able to balance administrative, operational, and pastoral responsibilities
  • Comfortable working flexible hours, including peak periods (move-in/out, summer lets)
  • Mental Health First Aid trained (or willing to be trained)
  • Understanding of GDPR, Health & Safety, and data integrity processes
