Operations Manager - Fire Protection (Sprinklers)

Location: London/South

Salary: 90,000 - 110,000 Basic + Benefits

Contract: Full-time, permanent

Who Is it?

My client is a privately owned fire protection company that's been keeping buildings safe, compliant, and occasionally slightly damp for years.

They're expanding fast and need a sharp, no-nonsense Operations Manager to keep the wheels turning, the drawings flowing, and the installation teams pointing in roughly the same direction.

About the Role

The role will involve leading sprinkler project delivery, coordinating designers, engineers, and installers, and occasionally reminding everyone that "urgent" doesn't mean "panic."

You'll balance commercial awareness with technical understanding, keeping clients happy, teams motivated, and projects delivered safely, on time, and within budget (because miracles are a bonus, not a requirement).

What You'll Be Doing

  • Leading the delivery of multiple sprinkler installation projects across the UK ( predominately South ).
  • Managing and mentoring project managers, supervisors, and site teams.
  • Reviewing designs, schedules, and contracts to ensure compliance with BS EN 12845 and LPCB standards.
  • Keeping the directors up to speed without using PowerPoint.
  • Ensuring the business runs smoothly from tender to handover - and that everyone involved still speaks to each other at the end.
  • Having the occasional laugh, even when things inevitably go sideways.

The Must Have's

  • Proven experience managing fire sprinkler or mechanical installation projects.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills - someone who inspires rather than shouts.
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to juggle flaming (fire-safe) torches.
  • A good grasp of design, installation, and commissioning processes.
  • A calm head under pressure and a good sense of humour (mandatory).
  • Full UK driving licence and a willingness to visit sites, offices, and the occasional caf.

What To Expect

  • You'll have real autonomy - They actually let their managers make decisions.
  • Work with a team that knows their stuff (and takes pride in it).
  • No corporate fluff - they prefer straight talk and strong tea.
  • Competitive salary ( Up to 110k basic ), company vehicle and benefits
