The Opportunity:

A highly regarded and inclusive primary school in Lewisham is seeking to appoint a skilled and dedicated Year 6 Teacher to join its team on a part-time basis. This fixed-term position is an excellent opportunity for an experienced educator who is passionate about supporting pupils through the critical final year of their primary education.

This part-time position (2 days per week) is available with immediate effect and will continue until July 2025, with the potential for extension depending on the needs of the school.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver well-structured, engaging lessons aligned with the Year 6 curriculum, supporting pupils in their preparation for end-of-key-stage assessments.
  • Assess, track, and report on pupil progress, ensuring all learners are supported in achieving their full potential.
  • Provide targeted interventions and differentiated instruction to meet individual student needs.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive, and high-expectation classroom culture that promotes resilience and a love of learning.
  • Communicate effectively with parents, carers, and colleagues to support pupil achievement and well-being.

Person Specification:

  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent recognised qualification.
  • A relevant degree in Education or a related subject discipline.
  • Proven experience teaching in Key Stage 2, ideally with prior Year 6 experience.
  • Strong understanding of the National Curriculum and effective assessment and preparation strategies for end-of-year outcomes.
  • Excellent behaviour management and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate pupils.
  • A reflective and collaborative practitioner committed to continuous improvement and professional development.
  • An understanding of how to support a diverse range of learners, including those with additional needs.
